What time should a child go to bed? The timetable.
To sleep the correct number of hours, a child must go to bed according to when he gets up in the morning. Here is the table with all the times.
What time should a child go to bed? Sleep is essential for human beings, and every age has different needs for the duration and quality of sleep. It often happens that we live in deprivation of necessary sleep, that is, we sleep less hours than our body needs .
We all know what happens when we sleep little: we are tired, easily irritable, we work or study badly, we struggle to concentrate, our eyes have difficulty focusing and we become intolerant of those around us.
Let’s do an exercise: how much better are you when you can wake up naturally and not with the alarm clock? I think you’ve all experienced it.
The alarm clock is just an alarm : first of all you risk being late if you don’t get up, but also you’re sleeping less than necessary , otherwise you would have woken up naturally.
Children’s sleep: what time should the child go to bed
For children, the situation is no different. Living in an environment full of stimuli (not least television or electronic instruments) and in situations where adults themselves sleep less than they should, they can find themselves losing hours of precious sleep from an early age.
Getting less sleep than necessary is not good for them. How can we help them get the right amount of sleep?
First of all let’s become aware of the constraints: if we have to get up at seven to go to school and we can’t change the time we wake up, we must necessarily change the time we go to bed .
The sleep chart
The table below shows you the time to go to bed by wake-up time to ensure that you get the right hours of sleep. The values change according to age.
Clearly the indications are average values and different children may have different needs.
However, it is important not to underestimate the lack of sleep : do not make going to bed too late a habit because when you realize that sleep is lacking it will become difficult to anticipate the times (and unfortunately in the morning the alarm clock stays fixed, at least for throughout the school year).
The experiment
An interesting experiment is to try to anticipate by half an hour and observe what happens: is the child calmer and less irritable? Back then he needed some extra sleep (and not vitamins or scolding). A little extra sleep costs nothing, just the effort to get into the habit and maybe a little organization.
We can also apply the same technique to ourselves, perhaps we find that we benefit from it (and by now the episodes of television series can easily be recorded and watched at a different time).
