25th week : frequent symptoms

How your body changes

The third quarter is approaching

The uterus continues to expand and has reached the point located halfway between the navel and the breastbone. The energy level is still high , but the third trimester is getting closer and you may start to feel more tired , especially due to the greater weight of the belly.

Anti-stretch mark remedies

This is the stage of pregnancy where  stretch marks appear most frequently on the belly, hips and breasts . To try to prevent them, continue to follow a healthy diet and practice regular physical activity , drink abundantly and apply oils or moisturizing creams on the areas most at risk. An extra help can also come from the consumption of foods rich in Vitamin C , which contribute to making the skin more toned and elastic .

Time to get organized!

Have you already started preparing your little one’s bedroom ? And the layette ? Now that you’re 25 weeks pregnant, it might be time to plan a few things. Start making a list of everything you will need at the time of delivery and after the birth, so you don’t forget anything.

How the child grows

It is about 30 centimeters long , the size of a courgette , and weighs about 665 grams .

An almost perfect little nose

Your little one’s body is well proportioned and thanks to the accumulation of subcutaneous fat, his skin begins to stretch and is increasingly pink .

His hair and eyes continue to color , though his lids are still closed, and his nostrils have finally begun to open .

Defenses under construction

At the 25th week of pregnancy, the  sexual organs are fully developed, while the structures of the spine (33 rings, 150 joints and 1000 ligaments)  are being perfected .

The bones continue to harden and contain  bone marrow within them , which has started to produce  white blood cells . After birth, these special cells will help defend your baby against infection, along with the antibodies you provide through your milk .

New explorations

His  senses  are increasingly sophisticated and respond better and better to stimuli.

Swallowing reflexes are  developing and the nerves around the mouth and lips are increasingly sensitive in preparation for breastfeeding.

Your little one is learning to use his little hands better and better and uses them to explore the space in which he is enclosed:  he grabs his feet, touches his face and discovers new sensations.

Its traveling companion, the umbilical cord , is now thick and elastic and is crossed by a single vein and two arteries, wrapped in a gelatinous substance.

Do you know that…

If you are expecting  twins , it is precisely at this moment that they will begin to explore each other, with caresses , hugs and some football , giving life to that unique bond that will accompany them throughout their lives.

For the dad

It’s time to think about getting organized with your work too. In fact, after the birth of the child, you will be entitled to compulsory paternity leave : find out how to request it.
