This is not our #FertilityDay
Our position is clear, we had already explained it in this article. We could have agreed on the need to make a change on the issue of fertility in Italy but we completely dissociate ourselves from the absurd campaigns that the Ministry has been carrying out.
In a private company, Minister Lorenzin would already be at home looking for a new job because it is not possible that after the first glaring mistake of communication, another one is repeated with the booklet with the racist cover that was released yesterday. At the moment, the director of communication of the Ministry has paid for it. But who controlled its operation? Did she do it all by herself?
A middle school boy could do better than this graphic creation made with two illustrations that can be purchased for a few euros from image sites; I don’t even want to think about how much it cost everyone’s pocket. A shame!
Here we talk about fertility at 360° every single day of the year, we absolutely don’t need a #Fertility Day conceived in this way.
FertilityDay was to be based on programs that set the stage for:
- I listen
- Information
- Prevention
- Support
- Structures
- Opportunity
I put Listen first not by accident.
You cannot impose the duty to procreate on a couple who have been struggling with infertility for years and when the treatments cost the savings of years of work.
You can’t force a couple to have more children when they may have had to deal with single or repeated miscarriages, or MEF (fetal uterine death).
You cannot think that a couple happily decides to have a child when there is no job stability .
You cannot expect a family to grow without proper childcare support.
Was listening to the motivations and simultaneously implementing information and social policies aimed at supporting parenthood difficult?
It was enough for them to come here to read the stories of women who are looking for or would like a child and they would have found many answers. And maybe they would have set up this campaign with that shred of humanity that has been completely missing.
For this reason today we continue to give information as we always do and offer space for listening and sharing.
If you like, we’d like to collect your testimonials on the subject here in the comments, hoping that whoever has to manage these campaigns will finally take into consideration those directly concerned and understand what the actual reality is.
