The types of car seats

As I anticipated in the Mini guide for safe travel , I would like to help you choose the seat models you need as your child grows.

I want to bring to your knowledge some really worrying data (Source ASAPS Observatory):

  • 42 children died in road accidents in Italy in 2015
  • 1206 children were injured on Italian roads
  • 50% of road accidents occur in urban centres

Alarming data that must make us all reflect.

Even before installation, it is important to know what is the best position inside the passenger compartment to place the seat.

No, the front seat is not the safest place to place a child seat. I know that often for convenience there is a tendency to install it next to the driver’s seat, because in this way you can keep the child under control. But that is not the safest position!

The safest place is the central rear one , because it also protects against side impacts which are the most frequent on our roads.

How many car seats are needed in the growth of our child?

From newborn to 12 years / 150 cm in height, there are 3 car seats that are needed to make car journeys for your children safe and comfortable.

The choice is to be made both on the basis of the weight and height of your child.
I remember that with my first child I changed the seat not so much because of the weight limit reached, but because she was very tall: her head protruded from the seat and the shoulder belts weren’t fastened securely. At that point I judged that the seat was no longer the right one for her and moved on to the next model.
