Childbirth

The ninth month of pregnancy and childbirth

The last month of pregnancy is full of expectations. You can’t wait to give birth to your baby even if you dread the moment of delivery. It’s perfectly normal to be a little afraid, the best thing to do is relax and get ready with your partner for your midwife

We have reached the end of this wonderful journey. The ninth month begins at 35 weeks + 1 day and ends at 40 weeks.

Did you know about the possible donation of the umbilical cord ?

What about the epidural ?

If you decide to request it, you must make the necessary visits including interviews with the anesthetist.

Ready to be born

During the 36th week the baby, if he hasn’t already done so, should engage in the pelvis. By lowering down, you will probably be able to breathe easier and your stomach will also feel relief. But now you may need to urinate very frequently and therefore you will wake up often at night too. The baby is now fully mature and at 36 weeks is 49cm long. He is growing at the rate of 28 grams a day and continues to have frequent fits of hiccups.

Important is the monitoring of fetal movements . Consult an obstetrician and gynecologist if you notice any changes from the usual.

Arrived at the 39th week, the cervix prepares for labor, the Braxton-Hicks contractions become stronger and you will feel heavier and more tired.

However, if the baby is too comfortable in the mother’s belly, it may be that it is not born by the expected date of delivery . In this case it will be necessary to undergo daily monitoring to verify the fetal well-being through the frequency of the heartbeat. Don’t worry, your gynecologist will explain everything to you.

In general, if labor does not begin by the 41st week, then induction of labor is performed .

With the birth of the child, a new, extraordinary journey also begins for mum and dad, full of emotions and discoveries.

Happy life to the new family!
