Sixth month of pregnancy for dad
Are you by any chance pregnant ? No, it’s not a joke: future dads could put on pounds like their partner and it’s a phenomenon studied and called Couvade syndrome . Obviously you won’t give birth so watch the weight because it won’t go away by itself…
The first contractions
New moments of panic will seize her when she feels Braxton Hicks contractions for the first time : they are painless and irregular contractions of the uterus that have nothing to do with labor contractions. But rest assured that he will get scared and afraid that something is wrong. Give her all the necessary support and possibly contact the gynecologist for reassurance.
Are you proud?
The baby bump is now clearly visible and everyone will undoubtedly recognize that she is pregnant. You will be proud of it, walking with your wife in the midst of people will take on a new flavor, a taste of what you will feel when you walk with your baby in the stroller.
Parental leave
Although not widely used, the father can by law enjoy parental leave at the birth of the child. If you plan to take advantage of this possibility (obviously that of your partner will be shorter), start informing yourself now because there are not very simple rules and you will have to communicate it to the company. On the INPS website you can find more detailed information (hopefully they don’t change the page…).
Bedroom
Having to organize the space for the new arrival? Well, it’s time to talk about it and maybe start moving some furniture. If you need to refresh the color of the room or apply some stencils, it’s time to plan these small activities.
As always, don’t forget to take pictures of your belly: it will soon disappear and then, overwhelmed by the new born, it will be normal to forget what it was like. A few beautiful photos, perhaps printed and collected in a real album, will be a precious memory for you and, you’ll see, it will also be greatly appreciated by older children.
