Male or female? Find out with the R game
Usually, it is necessary to wait about half of the pregnancy to find out the sex of the future baby , thanks to the morphological ultrasound .
To kill time, however, you can try some traditional games to calculate whether the child will be a boy or a girl , such as the famous R count . He knows some puzzle week, do you want to try it?
The R count in pregnancy
The R game to find out if it’s a boy or a girl works with a simple calculation :
- the Rs of the names of the months are counted from the first month of absence of the period to the month in which the birth of the child is expected.
- add the number of Rs appearing in the name and surname of the mother and father.
If the total is an even number then the baby will be a girl .
If instead the total is odd then it will be male .
Example
The cycle does not occur in April.
The calculation of the expected date of delivery (which you can do with our calculator knowing the day on which the last menstruation began or the date of conception) tells us that the baby should be born in December.
- April has 1 R
- May has 0 R
- June has 0 R
- July has 0 R
- August has 0 R
- September has 1 R
- October has 1 R
- November has 1 R
- December has 1 R
In total there are 5 Rs. If we still have 3 in the names, for example because the father is called Christopher Columbus and the mother Artemisia Gentileschi we count 8.
It will be female.
A somewhat… curious method!
The calculation of the Rs is a decidedly strange method: it makes one think of those games that one learns in elementary school to find out, starting from the names, if he “loves me or not”. Do you remember them?
Then there are mysterious cases, such as when mom and dad have names written in alphabets different from ours (for example the Chinese one) or, being foreigners, they call the months in their own language (French, Spanish, English, German or other).
Other methods?
In addition to the R game in pregnancy, there are many other tests and calculation methods to find out if it is male or female , equally bizarre and without scientific basis , but still fun!
Here are some:
- Mayan calendar of pregnancy
- Calculation of the moons
- Chinese pregnancy calendar
- Pregnancy symptoms to understand if you are expecting a girl
- Pregnancy symptoms to understand if you are expecting a boy
- Needle and thread game to know if it will be male or female
