Gestational diabetes in pregnancy. What to eat?

Hello doctor, I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes .

  • I’m on a diet. For example, here’s what I ate yesterday:
morning: a yogurt and an apple
  • lunch: 100 g of wholemeal pasta
  • snack: a yogurt and an apple
  • dinner: minestrone with 50 g of rice and steak

I wanted to know if once in a while, like once a week, I can treat myself to a pizza, an ice cream … the last blood test gave my glycemia at 117.

Thank you

with gestational diabetes you should try to eat 5 meals every day . So it’s important to snack perhaps with fresh fruit or a pot of yogurt.

At breakfast he should add some bread or wholemeal rusks to yogurt; it is not enough and also not very suitable to add just one fruit to yogurt both for the supply of simple sugars and for the energy needs of breakfast. A good idea for a breakfast that helps with blood sugar is toast, try it, you’ll see that you’ll feel better.

For lunch, make one-of-a-kind pasta dishes, with meat, fish or cheese sauces and always combine them with seasonal vegetables.

At dinner you always eat a half portion of pasta with vegetable sauces and a good portion of second course (meat, fish, eggs, cheese) with various side dishes of vegetables and legumes.

If he wants he could have an evening snack of milk and bread or a yogurt with cereal or a small piece of bread and a cheese. they will fill her up and allow her to feel much less hungry between meals.

However, I recommend that you contact a dietician or a specialist doctor who will be able to give you an accurate food history in order to best advise you in a personalized way for gestational diabetes.
