Furnishing the children’s bedroom: 12 DIY ideas easy to make
If I think back to the period when I was expecting my baby, I remember perfectly that my most recurring thoughts were directed to how to furnish the bedroom. Having a room available and always loving to take care of the furniture of the house, I just had to close my eyes to imagine everything: the bed and the wardrobe here, the changing table there, the curtains like this, the chandelier so …
It turned out that when my daughter was born everything was as I had thought it and moreover without spending a head.
Unless you have special needs, in fact, renovating a room and using it as a children’s room without emptying the wallet is possible with the help of DIY.
So today I would like to give you some small but precious suggestions, not to create a fairytale bedroom (that the right one in fairy tales or furniture magazines …) but to renovate or furnish the children’s bedroom in a simple and economical way. Just make small changes or add original decorations, to change the appearance of a somewhat anonymous room.

For example, with a simple net leaning against the wall you can create a truly original children’s bed.
The trick is to invent a nice DIY headboard like these. A little shaped foam rubber covered with fabric, a nice design on the wall or a simple wooden board painted and colored with cheerful designs can really renew and customize the bedroom.
If, on the other hand, your child is small and needs the cot with the sides, ask some of your friends if they lend you what she no longer uses. You can customize it and make it more cheerful, for example by creating a DIY carousel to hang on it.
If, on the other hand, you have a wardrobe that is a bit dated and without personality, you can make it suitable for a bedroom, changing the knobs (in hardware stores there are beautiful ones), sticking fun stickers on it or having fun drawing cute animals on the doors (in the brico center you can find the necessary for all these things).
Instead, if you do not want to paint the walls of the room, but just want to give a touch of color to the bedroom, you can decorate all the switches by covering them with washi tape and to keep the children company draw a nice little friend on the door.
Even hanging pictures can make a room more cheerful. So here’s one of the ideas I made for my daughter’s bedroom: I recycled and transformed simple kitchen towels into DIY paintings for the bedroom tags. Try to see if you also have tea towels with prints suitable for children and then frame them. The effect is truly remarkable.
For those who love brush and paint, on the other hand, they can try their hand at decorating the walls with do-it-yourself stencils : just cut out the shape we like best on a cardboard and use it to paint the same subject several times on the wall (in the photo a cloud-shaped stencils ).
And to the lampYou thought? You don’t need to go and buy it, just recycle an old lampshade and glue the children’s drawings on it, even in random order. And here’s a DIY lamp with your favorite characters that will keep you company in the dark.
You can sew them quickly by buying some remnants of fabric with prints for children or by recycling the fabric of some old patterned sheets (on the link you will find many ideas to make).
Obviously all these ideas are just suggestions that you can adapt to your needs. You don’t have to (you can’t) make them all, but even just a couple is enough to renovate your children’s bedroom and make it even more cheerful and welcoming.
