Ecological gift ideas for newborn 3-6 months

Welcome back!

After the articles in which I recommended some gift ideas for mom and baby, I would like to try to suggest some nice ideas for children aged 3-6 months .

Thanks to the collaboration of the Midwife Sara Notarantonio I received some interesting information about the evolutionary stages (mainly here I report the motor ones) in this age group. Obviously it’s all very subjective and depends on the individual child, his health and many other variables.

In this period of time (3-6 months) the child has an interesting motor evolution, in fact he begins to grasp the objects that we offer him, his curiosity grows constantly and he shows interest in the things that are placed near his eyes and to suspended objects.
Around 2-3 months he begins to use his little hands: he opens them, puts them together, brings them to his mouth, sucks or licks them.
By the 4th month he stands straight up on his back and starts to roll over. He plays a lot with his hands and tries to grab objects.
At 5 months he can grasp objects but does not always know how to release them voluntarily.

Approximately from the 6th month he practices to learn to crawl, he begins to push himself backwards like a prawn. He grasps objects well, is able to voluntarily shake them, to bring them to his mouth, to drop them.

Gift ideas based on the child’s motor and sensory skills

Having become aware of these stages, we can find “ad hoc” gifts for the child. So I’ll show you what I would have thought about reflecting on the aforementioned stages and also on the fact that this period can also coincide with teething disorders. I await all your suggestions for other gifts and useful things.

Sophie the giraffe is a toy suitable from birth, it stimulates each of the 5 senses from the age of 3 months.

The square with teething ring is one of the objects together with the puppet (also by Donetella Carrara aka Pongazio) that my daughter appreciated the most. It stimulates all the senses and the polished wooden ring is a valid ally in the delicate period of teething during which children tend to bring objects to their mouths to find relief

I used the amber necklace with my baby from about 4 months day and night and she still wears it at 33 months. The ones I feel I recommend are those with individually knotted beads and with a screw closure because they are the safest ones. I leave you to read this article for further details.

Still on the subject of teething and tactile and visual stimuli, I recommend objects like this one above, the gum massagers, which allow the baby to manipulate and explore tactilely and can be of help if the gums are annoying. From the same line, the classic ice cubes to keep in the freezer or the more ecological Root of Iris or Viola (which my daughter really appreciated!).

For my little girl, bath time has always been a moment of play and relaxation. We have always dedicated a part of the day to the “ciaf ciaf” in its tub before and in the large tub now, it is now a ritual enriched by some little games that cheer up and amuse. These soft, rounded rubber puppets are ideal for the first few months.

A play mat or a nice blanket on the floor, his gym and the mother who plays with him/her… I’d say that’s all you need. For a moment of leisure and some stimulus. At this age, they don’t need “spaceships” with lights and sounds that can confuse and overstimulate them. Simple and well-defined colors, harmonious shapes and natural materials (where possible), I don’t think much more is needed.

 Books

It’s never too early to start “reading”. There are really many types on the market, but you can try your hand at building your fabric book by following one of the many tutorials on the net. In any case, the result will be fantastic and the child will be curious and interested!

Thinking about Christmas

Always useful, always present in the bags of all mothers. The bib is undoubtedly the must have for every child-gifted mother :). In organic cotton and with a Christmas theme, it shouldn’t be missing!
If it were up to me, I’d always wear tracksuits and tennis shoes, but especially on special occasions and during the holidays, the dress has its reason… and let’s face it, little dresses for children can be really cute! I found these 2 examples, they seem nice to me and above all with a low cost. What do you think?
I hope I have been useful to you, but as always I await your comments to extend the list or revise it in case of special needs.
See you soon.
