DIY ideas to create cheerful Carnival costumes for the whole family

Did you know that Carnival is very close? Are you thinking of some ideas to create carnival costumes for your whole family?
It is true that you have to have the right spirit, but I want to remember that Carnival is one of those rare occasions when mom, dad and children can really have fun becoming accomplices in a unique game: dress up all together!

Carnival costumes for the family do not necessarily have to be purchased, but can be handmade with a little imagination and dexterity, using everything you can find at home (old clothes, overalls, pajamas, scraps of fabric, wool, cardboard …).
The only things you will have to buy are at the limit some materials that normally do not exist in the house (for example foam rubber).

To inspire you and give you some ideas, here are some nice ideas of carnival costumes for the family that I found around the net.

Popeye costume, Olivia and Pea

Are you three and your child is small? Masquerade as Popeye’s family.
The materials you need are easily available: a white t-shirt and jeans for Popeye, a long black skirt and a red sweater for Olivia, pajamas and a red sleeping bag type bag where to put Peas. Do not forget the sailor’s hat and pipe.

Space Family Costume

Do you think yours is a space family? Here is the costume for you! Get old clothes and shoes and a bunch of silver spray paint and lots of silver tape. He then takes care of the details creates space guns, space helmets, space hair. To learn more, read the tutorial.

101 Charge Costume

101 dalmatians is an evergreen and as a costume it is perfect for large families.
To make the costumes of the little Dalmatians, ample white tracksuits and the patience to apply many small circles of black felt will suffice. A black coat with small white circles, a two-tone black and white wig to dress up as Cruella De Vil. Calf-length brown trousers, woolen socks and a big hat to transform yourself into Gaspare or Orazio depending on whether your husband is filiform or corpulent.

Savannah animal carnival costume

Here’s another idea for a cheerful family carnival: the Savannah Animals. To make these costumes you only need tracksuits on which to attach colored patches in diapers with double-sided adhesive.
A havana jumpsuit and lobed brown appliques for the giraffe, a green jumpsuit and two yellow rectangles on the front, a white jumpsuit and black stripes for the zebra. On the hood of each suit then, you can attach large masks always made with diapers.

Circus Family Costume

A lion, a weightlifter, a clown and a tightrope dancer are the circus family .
It doesn’t take much to create these cute costumes: striped t-shirt and shorts, striped overalls, scraps of fabric, tutu and umbrella.

Peter Pan and the lost children costume

If you are a large family, it might be a great idea to dress up as Peter Pan and the Lost Children. Easier to do than to say, since to make it will essentially need discarded clothes, such as old overalls or escaped pants to roll up. The important thing is the accessories, such as small swords made with cardboard, hats with feathers (you can make them with cardboard as I did in
), leather belts. Reserve Peter Pan dressed in green, and give space to a rainbow of colors for everyone else.

These are the carnival costumes for the family, but if the family is not complete you can find other ideas by reading Carnival costumes for moms with baby bumps or Carnival costumes for small children.
