Children's Bedroom

Curtains for the children’s bedroom: DIY ideas

If you are preparing or renovating your child’s bedroom, think also about curtains.
Yes, I mean you can do them! Sewing curtains for the children’s bedroom is not that difficult. In fact, if you think about it, they are just straight seams on rectangular cloth panels.

I make it too simple and I haven’t convinced you yet? Ok, then think that you personally prepare your own tents

  1. saves money,
  2. is a good way to customize the décor of the bedroom
  3. When the work is finished, self-esteem skyrockets.

To have tailor-made curtains and not spend much, go to the most well-stocked fabric store you know and buy fabric for curtains by the meter, preferably with offers and discounts.
To save even more, you can also buy fabrics not necessarily from curtains. These cost much less than those created specifically for curtains. And if you don’t want or can’t go out, you can also shop online in stores that sell fabrics. You can make great deals as well as buy cute fabrics.

But the thing that I personally like most is that preparing the curtains for the bedroom yourself, allows not only to obtain a unique and exclusive work made to measure for you, but also to customize the whole room by creating other accessories – bedspreads, pillows, puppets, wall decorations or other – all with the same type of fabric.

Here are some nice ideas for making curtains for the children’s bedroom from which you can take inspiration.

1.Curtain with ruffles

These curtains with ruffles look difficult but in reality they are not.
It is simply a matter of normally making simple rectangular curtains (you will decide the measurements) and sewing rectangular strips curled on the final part and here you will find how to make ripples.

2.Drawstring curtain

Actually this is a valance for curtains, but the idea can be exploited for any type of bedroom curtain. Just choose one or more fabrics in fantasy and sew a sort of corridor at the top where to insert the pole or the rod of the tent.

3. Glass curtain

For those who need to make simple glass curtains (even blackouts) quickly and without many large investments in accessories to be assembled, this solution can be ideal. All you need are L-shaped hooks to screw onto the window frame, string and wooden balls. Well, then of course the curtains.

4.Sewing curtain without sewing

They look normal, actually these curtains are made without sewing.  This is undoubtedly the ideal solution for quickly making curtains for the bedroom by simply using adhesive strips for hems to be fixed with an iron. They can be found in haberdashery shops.

5. Curtain with special effects

Do you need blackout curtains, but original to the right point? Here is the solution!
Stretched, thick canvas and many small holes to be made by hand with fabric punches.

6- Curtain with suspenders

Here is a really nice system to hold up and give the wave shape to the curtains. Once you have created the curtains in the pattern and colors you want, use old braces as gatherers.
Once you have created the curtains in the fantasy and colors you want, use old suspenders as curlers.

You can make these, or even make more classic curtains, you decide, but once you have mounted your curtains and the room is ready, I can tell you from personal experience, that you will feel proud of yourself!
