Lunch menu ideas for children
As we well know, lunch is an indispensable meal and must be the richest of the day to keep a child’s energy level up. Normally, lunch should bring about 35-40% of the daily energy and must supply all the essential macro-nutrients: carbohydrates, fibres, proteins and fats.
A dish of pasta or rice combined with always varied and nutritious condiments, such as fresh tomato sauce, light meat or fish ragout or vegetables/legumes, are a great classic among first courses for children. To vary the menu, in addition to pasta or rice, the intake of carbohydrates for lunch is also ensured by a potato pizza or a savory pie with vegetables.
For lunch, fish , meat , eggs , cheeses, and above all legumes , rich in protein, can be a valid alternative to meat and fish.
All always accompanied by a side dish ofraw or cooked seasonal vegetables according to the child’s tastes and finally a portion of fresh seasonal fruit.
