Children’s birthday party: lots of DIY ideas
The children’s birthday party is coming: what are the things I can prepare myself? I bet if you have a child who is about to turn old soon is a question that has been stirring in your head for days.
If children are very young, they actually need a few things: a cake with candles, some colored balloons, some music with favorite songs and some friends to invite. If they are a little bigger, the commitment on your part may be more important. Need DIY ideas? Here they are!

Party DIY ideas
Below you will find a nice list of DIY ideas that you can inspire and that you can prepare yourself to organize a nice birthday party for children. Obviously they are not to be realized all (if you have time wanting even yes, but I do not recommend it), but even just a couple would be enough to make the party colorful and cheerful.
Invitation cards
Lately mothers are used to invite friends and relatives by sending a quick message on their mobile phone, but there is no doubt that invitation cards have another charm especially because they are written and given by hand.
If you like the idea of preparing handmade invitations, know that colored cards and a little imagination are enough to make really nice ones.
An example? Here are some very nice invitation cards in the shape of a ladybug!
However, if you don’t have much time available but still want to give invitations personally, you can print ready-made birthday invitation cards like the ones I made. You can print as many as you want!
Party set-up theme or favorite color
One of the things you can do to set up the environment is to organize a themed birthday that is not a whim, but a way to facilitate the organization of the party. Having a theme to follow everything will be easier.
Gadgets and favors to give
If, on the other hand, you like the idea of preparing gadgets and little gifts to give to all the little guests at the end of the party, you can really indulge your imagination. Want an example?
A few days before the party prepare fun colorful hats that children can put on during their birthday and take home as a souvenir, or create and give cardboard boxes in the shape of ice cream with candies inside.
DIY decorations
It is true that colored plates, glasses and napkins already make a lot of scene, but you can do better! There is no party if there are no festoons, balloons and decorations to hang everywhere.
For example, with colored sheets you can prepare a very original garland with popcorn cones to hang with clothespins and with colored balloons you can create a beautiful rainbow-shaped decoration.
If you want to amaze everyone, with Christmas lights and simple paper cups you can build a pretty Luminous Garland while with a little tissue paper you can build a Cheerful Garland with Paper Pompoms .
Activities, games and entertainment
Ok, you’ve prepared everything … and now what do the children do?
If the children are very young, hire a good reader of fairy tales among the parents or grandparents present or improvise a make-up artist and paint their faces tags. And if the birthday party takes place in the garden, organize A Nice Open-Air Cinema with a projector and a white sheet or prepare some animal-shaped balloons , assign one to each and organize a race on all fours on the lawn: the children will have to push animals/balloons with noses and whoever reaches the finish line first wins!
Homemade sweets
Finally, if you are not a good crafter but you do well in the kitchen, you can be confident in the success of the party even if only by preparing delicious homemade desserts (remember, however, to inquire if there are children allergic or intolerant to any food among those present).
Here are some excellent recipes from my friend Natalia Cattelani (yes, the one from the “Prova del Cuoco”) to prepare simple but delicious desserts suitable for children : Biscuit ice cream , pancakes and Margherita Cake .
