c: how to feel beautiful during the winter

When the cold arrives, the worst moment arrives and for us mothers, looking beautiful becomes a feat. Here are some beauty tips to face the winter.

Under normal conditions, we mothers find it hard to feel and look beautiful . Finding the right balance between work, children, home management and a thousand commitments is in fact not easy at all and this often leads us not to take care of ourselves.
We get up in the morning and get dressed quickly, there are the children to take to school, you go to work, you go shopping, you come back and the house needs to be fixed … in short, it turns out that we don’t even have the time to look in the mirror and, if we do, we often see a woman we don’t like.

Now that we are in winter things seem even worse. In the cold, wind and rain we look pale, our skin is red and tight, our hands and lips are dry and chapped, our hair tends to get frizzy. But above all we forget about our being a woman : we stay at home in our tutoni and go out in boots (ok, I wrote it to rhyme but we understood each other 😉 ).

Beauty tips for winter

Finding time to pamper ourselves a little even in winter (and not just in summer) is a gesture that won’t make us mothers the most beautiful in the realm, but it will certainly make us feel good.
So here are some beauty tips for winter that we can put into practice.

Take care of the face

With the arrival of the cold season, the skin often reddens, cracks and even becomes rough, causing an unsightly purple effect or real cracks. To rebalance the skin and give the face softness and brightness, it is necessary to keep it hydrated.
To do this, not only is it good to use a good moisturizer , but it would also be advisable to avoid bad habits such as: not protecting the skin from excessive cold, washing frequently, using aggressive cleansing products or unsuitable creams and cosmetics.

Natural creams and oils
There are so many products on the market that are suitable for hydrating all skin types . Generally, if I have to buy a good moisturizer, I ask my pharmacist for advice, but I don’t mind resorting to natural remedies as well.
For example, to prevent or remedy chapped and dry skin, you can use moisturizing and emollient products that can easily be found in herbal shops such as almond oil, olive oil, Argan oil, avocado oil, lavender oil, Aloe vera gel, shea butter and many others.

Beauty masks
To have healthy and well-groomed skin even in winter, it may also be useful to make a nourishing mask at least once a week. On the market you can find face masks for any need but if you want, you can also make them homemade. Searching the net for DIY winter face masks you will find many with the most disparate ingredients and for every skin type (oily, dry, mixed).

Choose a suitable makeup

Besides flaky skin, one of the most common things that happens in the winter is looking too pale . In this case an adequate make-up can help us a lot, not only to create a protective anti-cold barrier, but above all to enhance and make a clear and dull complexion brighter and more alive.For example, we can use a good foundation (better to prefer moisturizing and fluid ones) or a hydra finish and powder . The color to choose must be the closest to our complexion. It is true that we are interested in appearing more colorful, but we also don’t need to overdo it with a foundation that is too dark to want to look tanned even in the middle of winter.
To remove the pallor from the face and recreate a healthy and natural complexion , therefore, a good blush (fard) is sufficient to be applied, after the foundation, mainly on the cheekbones and cheeks.
As for eyelid and eye makeup,look for inspiration on the web not only based on the color of the eyes and hair, but also according to the colors that the fashion for the winter season offers.

Caring for the lips

How to prevent our lips from becoming dry and cracked due to the cold? Although we don’t realize it, the lips are the most endangered during the winter. In fact, by their nature they are not prepared to cope with low temperatures and, apart from a scarf placed over the mouth, there are no special clothing to repair it (as is the case for the head with hats and hands with gloves). That’s why it really deserves to protect your lips with suitable products every time it’s very cold and we go out.

For example, in winter I always keep a lip balm stick in my purse but there are also many other products, such as balms and creams, even DIY ones , which are perfect for keeping the lips soft and well-groomed even in the winter season.
If you want to try a homemade recipe, I recommend a lip balm made with beeswax, shea butter and almond oil.

Caring for hands and feet

Another thing that can help make us feel beautiful even in winter is having well-groomed and healthy hands. In fact, with the cold season the hands and feet are subjected to continuous temperature changes and this can lead to annoying ailments such as dryness, redness, chilblains.

The main advice is therefore to cover your hands with a pair of gloves at least if it’s very cold and to avoid putting cold hands and feet immediately in contact with hot sources such as radiators or stoves.
Another tip is to avoid washing your hands with aggressive products (preferably a neutral soap) and not to put alcoholic perfumes on your hands which, as such, dry the skin too much.

As far as the products to be applied to protect hands and feet are concerned, we can think of special moisturizing creams for hands and feet, but also wraps to be made with natural products such as olive oil, wheat germ oil, coconut oil, chamomile, avocado pulp, vegetable glycerin.

Hair care

By now we all know that with well-groomed hair and a good head, we feel good and look much more beautiful. But we are mothers and finding the time to go to the hairdresser has become more of a dream than anything else. We just have to do it ourselves even if the winter humidity and wind don’t help us in the task.

Here are some rules for taking care of our hair in winter:

  • avoid frequent washing – in winter, not sweating, they are not needed;
  • use a nourishing shampoo to prevent the hair from getting frizzy typical of humid days;
  • using a brush with natural bristles avoids further electrifying the hair;
  • make a moisturizing hair mask once every two weeks even for those with oily hair;
  • tie up your hair with a soft braid and cover it with a hat especially if the days are windy or if you are on holiday in the snow.
