10 things you can learn in the first weeks of pregnancy
The moment a woman discovers she is pregnant, her world begins to change. Already in the first weeks of pregnancy nothing is as before for her, a new life is growing in her and from that moment every decision she makes no longer applies only to herself. For this reason, pregnancy is one of those life events that changes our habits more than any other. The lifestyle becomes healthier, and in a certain sense, unless she has already started looking for a child (which she recommended), the woman learns to love herself even more.
No more smoking, no more alcohol, healthy eating and walking are the best recipe for making the most of the 9 months of waiting, even if they may not be enough. In fact, the first twelve weeks of pregnancy are not easy at all: tiredness, drowsiness, physical changes, fears and advice that come from everywhere… often put the woman in crisis who instead needs to find reassurance.
“Mal comune mezzo gaudio!” Never has a popular saying been as effective as this one. In the first quarter we were all a bit in the same boat, including seasickness… It will seem like a very long period, but have faith, it will pass and you will get better!
1. The first few weeks of pregnancy seem endless
On average, pregnancy is discovered around 4-5 weeks after the last menstrual period, so .. we are already well into the first trimester! Despite this, the remaining 7 will seem like an eternity that you can’t wait to overcome. Both for the symptoms you experience and because the first few weeks are the most delicate with the greatest risk of early miscarriage which decreases as you approach the fateful 12 weeks of pregnancy. A sort of intermediate goal after which the road levels out before the start of the descent!
2. Nausea is always lurking
Not only in the morning when blood sugar levels are low, but also between meals, whenever the stomach empties, nausea makes its unpleasant appearance. For this reason it is very useful to always have something light to nibble on hand. Better something integral with fibers that help intestinal motility (another sore point of pregnancy).
3. New pains
With pregnancy, our attention to any change or anomaly in our body is at its highest level. It’s as if we suddenly turned on an infinite number of sensors that activate at every slightest symptom. For example, they feel an infinite number of pains in the abdomen or groin. Generally if they are physiological they are mild and elusive pains. If, on the other hand, they are strong, it is good to talk to your doctor. Better a few more checks than having the doubt that something is not going right.
4. Hair, how wonderful!
It will be one of the times in your life where you will have beautiful hair thanks to pregnancy hormones.
5. The breasts? a screaming bounty!
If you start from a second one, you could easily increase by a generous size already in the first weeks. Your he will appreciate for sure!
6. Bye bye underwire
Bigger breasts but also some more discomfort. No more uncomfortable bras, yes to the comfortable ones designed for pregnant women. So many clothes that you wore before will start to feel uncomfortable. You will begin to discover the comfort of clothes, leggings and sportswear. And if the jeans don’t close anymore, you can use handy ties to apply them to continue wearing them anyway.
7. AAA wanted comfortable sleeping position
As the weeks go by, the tummy will begin to show, even if you hardly notice anything before 10-12 weeks in the case of a first pregnancy.
8. What smell is this?
Pregnant women have a bloodhound nose! This has its pros and cons especially if you are dealing with people who wash little in the workplace or when you are in line at the supermarket checkout.
9. I don’t like it anymore!
Predilection for foods can change a lot. Foods you used to love can become unbearable and vice versa! In relation to foods, during pregnancy you become very expert in what is good and what is not.

10. How many exams!
Pregnancy is full of tests and checks. You can be followed by a consulting room or a private gynecologist and a midwife. In Italy there are a series of completely free exams to be carried out based on the gestation period.
In these first weeks, the gynecologist will present the couple with a series of medical analyzes concerning more or less invasive prenatal diagnosis . Good information from the doctor allows the couple to make informed choices. In the end it is always a personal choice but a good information base is always necessary.
In addition to these first 10 points, we could continue indefinitely.. the future dad generally becomes more protective of his partner, he starts eating for two… and if the woman is fine… sex could be even more beautiful 😉
